Weitere Produktinformationen
Estrogen receptor (ER) is a hormone binding molecule, which belongs to the nuclear hormone family of intracellular receptors. Estrogen receptors exist as alpha and beta forms encoded by separate genes ESR1 and ESR2. ERa and ERb share a high degree of sequence homology and are activated by the hormone 17b-estradiol and related compounds, including phytoestrogens and xenoestrogens. Both ERa and ERb function as transcription factors which mediate many of the biological effects of estradiol at the level of gene regulation. Both receptors and are involved in the normal development and function of numerous tissues. Studies also suggest that ER is may be involved in a range of pathological conditions including cancers, neurodegenerative diseases and cardiovascular disease.
