Streptavidin conjugates can be used as detection reagents in immunoassays. This includes fluorescent dye conjugates and enzyme conjugates of streptavidin. This does not only include dyes such as Peridinin Chlorophyll Protein Complex (PerCP), Allophycocyanine (APC) und R-Phycoerythrin (RPE), but also Alexa Fluor®- und cyanin-conjugated streptavidin and streptavidin conjugated to enzymes. Streptavidin–HRP (HRPO, Horseradish Peroxidase) and Streptavidin–Alkaline Phosphatase (Alk. Phos) can be used for indirect immunodetection methods. Biotin conjugated streptavidin is used in Labeled Streptavidin-Biotin Staining (LSAB Method) in Immunohistochemistry. Streptavidin enzyme conjugates with HRP/HRPO and Alkaline Phosphatase can be used with common chromogens.
