This standard is prepared by pooling serum obtained from a large number mice belonging to a-allotype and b-allotype stains with the following assigned values: IgG1–2.00 mg/ml. IgG2a–8.54 mg/ml. IgG2b–1.25 mg/ml. IgG3–0.754 mg/ml. IgA–2.75 mg/m. IgM–0.277 mg/ml. The determination of the concentration of each of the four subclasses was carried out by single radial immunodiffusion (RID, Mancini) in agar gel Nordic Nr. 2 using subclass-specific polyclonal antisera and purified mouse immunoglobulins as primary standards. Allotypic differences in mouse IgG2a may interfere with the determination of this subclass. At least eight allelic variants of IgG2a have been identified. Most laboratory mouse strains fall into one of these allogeneic groups. Mouse Standard Serum NOR-02 contains IgG2a of both allelic types Igh-1aand Igh1b and cab be used for the quantitative determination of IgG2a in the majority of mouse strains, including Balb/C, C3H, CBA/J, SJL/J and SM/J. Mouse standard serum NOR-02 is intended for use as a calibrator to prepare standard curves in quantitative determinations of the immunoglobulins IgA and IgM and IgG subclasses.

Delipidated, lyophilized serum. No preservative added
